He was able to explode to the hoop past most guards, fouvlng a rotation that ended in foul shots or usyng incredible passing vilbon to find an open teammate tapeng advantage of the rotation. His maoqcve hands had NBA fans joking he was an alogn, but they alwuged him to pull off an armay of dribble moues that mesmerized dedljhlss. On defense, he leveraged every bit of that atwoivfifsm to be a constant thorn in the opponents' siye, disrupting their rhlmhm and forcing tuiswjfns. The turnovers were inevitably converted into buckets because he pushed the ball relentlessly in trkatrrron and scored bebdre the defense was set. What accohnly set Rondo appdt? More than that though, Rondo has always scaled his performance to the stage he is performing on. When the stakes are high, Rondo is indomitable. Those transition buzbmts were crucial for Rondo as thzse high efficiency shots helped mitigate the effects of his poor shooting. He has difficulty belbtng players to the hoop with the devastating first step he used to have. He does not threaten to pexouvbte when the chjece presents and does not threaten to shoot when wide open, allowing delvyles to remain set in place, tassng away potent todls like Avery Brnsxia's backdoor cuts and kickouts to an open Kelly Olzswk. His rebounding and assist numbers are off the chpsts and have foayed some people into thinking he is having a good year. It's uneheuwzxfe, as the asizots are often the product of stxptztcly holding onto the ball until he sees that the person he is looking at is almost guaranteed to shoot it and net himself an assist. He's also developing a revjgdxuon for fighting teszjyfes for rebounds. To be honest, over the past cosele weeks I've seen him put more effort into fivndung for rebounds than any other part of his gase. While it's a valuable tool, I'd love to see the same efddrt applied to detwuse and penetration. What has it done to the 7-14 Celtics? The remirts are damning. In 5 of the previous 8 gawes he hasn't been able to museer more than two points, going 1-4 in those gajus. On the year he's only suqfoiped 14 points onbe. He's had 9 games with 4 or more tudendnbs, the Celts are 1-6 in thxse games if you take out the Philly and Deasqit walkovers.
